To be a member of Trinity Methodist Church Petaling Jaya (TMC PJ) means pledging to work out one’s discipleship with Jesus Christ in and through the community of faith. While there are privileges afforded to a member, they are to be viewed as opportunities to further the kingdom of God and participate in the ministries of Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord.
How can you become a member of the community of faith?
Through one of three ways below:
- By profession of faith
- By confirmation/reaffirmation
- By transfer (from another community of faith)
The process involved for (3) is as follows:-
a) If you are a full member of another Methodist Church in Malaysia or overseas, according to the Methodist Book Of Discipline, you will need to write to your home church (either via the post but preferably via email) requesting for a transfer of membership. If you are using email, please extend a copy of that letter to your home church to firstname.lastname@example.org for our reference. You will need to contact our pastor-in-charge for a one-on-one chat. You will also need to fill up a membership registration form (click here to download) and return it to email@example.com. There will be a formal reception of your membership into the community of faith at one of the Baptismal/Confirmation/New Members services. Please refer to the section below on duties of members and meaning of membership.
b) If you are not a member of a Methodist Church, you will have to attend the Adults/Youths Baptism and Membership Classes.
TMCPJ has two (2) schedules for Adult and one (1) schedule for Youth. The classes (once a week with breaks in between) are usually held on Saturdays for Adults and Sundays for Youths. The Adult class starts at 2:30pm-4:30pm whilst the Youth class starts at 1.30pm-3:30pm. Each class consists of 16 lessons spread over 5 months.
For the 1st half of 2019, the Adult class will commence on 19th January 2019.
The Youth class will commence on 20th January 2019.
The “Baptismal/Confirmation & Reception of New member” Service will be held on 8th & 9th June 2019 respectively. After the service, there will be a light buffet dinner for new members (and guests) to get to know the community of faith.
If you wish to attend the Adult/Youth classes, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Methodist Churches in Malaysia practice children baptism. This is primarily founded upon the understanding of the covenant a relationship God has initiated with His people. Parents who present their children for child/infant baptism make a covenant to bring up their children in the saving knowledge of our Lord God and prepare them for the ratification of their baptism through confirmation at the age 16 or before (if parents are of the view their child is ready for such a step to be taken by him/her).
To arrange for your child’s/children’s baptism, both parents must contact the pastor-in-charge for a one-on-one chat.
To ensure that data is captured correctly in the baptism certificate, please email the birth certificate of your child/children to email@example.com.
The baptism of the child/children will follow the dates scheduled for Adults and Youths Baptism.
